State of the Art Technology

Protecting the environment is a high priority for us, and this new generation project is no exception. We always comply with or exceed all environmental laws and regulations in all projects. And this project is one of the cleanest, using some of the newest and most efficiency technologies available.

The Cheyenne Prairie Generating Station will include one simple-cycle and one combined-cycle unit. Each type of unit provides its own benefits to customers.

Simple-Cycle Unit — This unit will be wholly owned by Cheyenne Light. The turbine offers operational flexibility. Cheyenne Light can operate the smaller simple-cycle facility independently of the larger combined cycle facility when energy demand is lower. Simple cycle also offers flexibility for installing additional resources in the future at a reasonable cost and in smaller increments. Simple-cycle units offer a fast startup time and function well as wind generation back up. When we approach maximum load requirements, this unit is available in 10 minutes to help honor our commitment to supply reliable electricity when our customers need it.

Combined-Cycle Unit — The jointly owned combined-cycle facilities operate more efficiently than simple cycles, resulting in lower emissions and positioning us well for future environmental compliance. As our load requirements grow, this combined cycle unit will fill in the gaps in an environmentally sound manner.

You should inspect, clean or replace your air filter if it looks dirty every 30 days. A dirty filter can increase energy costs and be harmful to your equipment.
