Tree Planting

Planning before planting trees can help ensure that you plant the right tree in the right place. Proper tree selection and placement enhance property values and prevent costly maintenance trimming and damage to your home.
Planting the right tree in the right place also means planting "power-line-friendly trees" if there are high-voltage power lines nearby. The location of these lines should be factored into your decision on where you plant trees. The mature height of a tree must be within available overhead space and a safe distance from power lines. Generally it’s better to avoid planting trees of any type under power lines.
Mature Tree Height | Distance from Power Lines |
---|---|
25 feet or less | 10 feet |
25 feet to 50 feet | 35 feet |
50 feet or more | 45 feet |
