Two Cheyenne Light, Fuel & Power electric line crews are in western South Dakota this week to help Black Hills Power restore electric service after a powerful autumn storm system swept across northeast Wyoming and South Dakota late last week. Black Hills Corporation owns Cheyenne Light and Black Hills Power.
“We’re glad to be able to help our fellow Black Hills Corporation utility after this storm,” said Mark Stege, vice president of operations for Cheyenne Light. “Our crews had just spent last week preparing for the same storm here in our service area, so we know how important it is to work safely to get power restored as quickly as possible.”
In the storm’s aftermath, about 28,000 Black Hills Power customers were without power. Cheyenne Light’s crews are currently focusing on the Hill City, S.D., area. The Cheyenne crews travelled to South Dakota early Saturday, October 5 and are expected to return to Cheyenne next week.
