
Planning to power over a million bikers

For the past week, there’s been a constant rumble throughout the Hills as hundreds of thousands of bike enthusiasts — maybe more than a million — converged on the small town of Sturgis, South Dakota, for the 75th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

The Ben French Power Plant has been a reliable source of electricity for customers of Black Hills Power as well as a Rapid City landmark for more than 50 years. It was a pivotal asset to the region’s economic growth and public welfare.

Working to model a utility-educator relationship

Like most utilities, Black Hills Corporation faces substantial hiring needs over the next five years, as employees begin to exit the workforce in large numbers. That's why we recently came to the conclusion we needed to ramp up our relationships with the institutions that train the candidates who will replace those retirees.

Hopefully, the Environmental Protection Agency creates and enforces good rules. Of course, sometimes it’s hard to tell if they're getting it right every time.
